A few years back I began experimenting with Linux to see if it was, or could be, a viable alternative to Windows as a desktop operating system.
My reasons for doing so were three-fold:
1. Since the beginning of my
internet journeys, due to economic considerations, I have had a strong affinity for
freeware,
shareware, and Open Source
software.
2. I had come to have serious reservations regarding privacy and security under Windows.
3. I was also wanting to begin serving my own web pages on my own server and over the years I had been impressed with the Apache web servers in use by my various virtual hosts.
